Grýla and Álfatrú

Details
Created: 23 September 2019

Nice to be able to picture these two mares together, Grýla frá Stangarholti and her grand daughter Álfatrú frá Syðri-Gegnishólum. Álfatrú is a daughter of Álfadís frá Selfossi and Sveinn-Hervar frá Þúfu í Landeyjum. Grýla is 29 years old and Álfatrú is 2 years old and a funny mix of her grandmother and mother in confirmation and colour. She has a good and strong back and her temperament is curious and friendly. My friend Ellen was making a lot of funny sound and positions to make them pose, but mostly they looked surprised

After Berlin

Details
Created: 14 August 2019

We are home again from the World Championships in Berlin, I have been using some time to digest the experience. This was a great time with solidarity and friendship, the atmosphere around and in our team was outstanding. I'm proud and honored to be a part of the Icelandic team.
I chose to bring my dearest horse, Álfarinn and was able to create a "magic moment " with him in the preliminaries. That, in the end, was most important for me, we were able to show our capacity.
In the finals, when I think back, it wasn't really right from the beginning. Why, I can only speculate. In the end, what comes back to me again and again. Berlin is not a horse friendly place. The change is too big for horses coming straight from Iceland with too short time to adjust and I think it's based on chance which horses are able to handle it and which do not. This is not an excuse only my thoughts.
Sigurbjörn team leader, Sigurður, Anton, Arnar Bjarki, trainers, our Team board, team members, grooms, helpers and Erlendur our farrier, thank you so much you are all geniuses. I'm proud to be a part of the Icelandic team.
